Audi win Le Mans with Williams KERS technology

Audi took their 11th win at Le Mans at the weekend and in doing so became the first manufacturer to take victory in the 24 hour race with a hybrid machine. In fact, the car incorporated the innovative flywheel KERS system developed by the Williams F1 team. In a press release, Williams stated: "To see our technology play a role in this historic triumph is immensely satisfying."

Williams technology in an Audi... hmm... did you sanction that Frank or has Mike Coughlan made any recent trips to Germany?
Williams   Frank Williams
Christ no, it's legit Fernando. Pity though we had to put out our own bloody press release to get any credit for it.
fernando   Fernando Alonso
Congrats on another win, even if it was in a race nobody gives a flywheel about. Speaking of Williams success at Le Mans, I heard our old buddy and ex-Williams employee Nick did well.
HeidiHi   Nick Heidfeld
My 24 hour party lifestyle helped me stay awake for the racing Fernando. The best thing is I could live it up in the motorhome between stints, and we beat one of the Audis.
fernando   Fernando Alonso
At least you did better than your fellow ex-Williams driver Nakajima, all he managed to do was knock out that batmobile.
mschumi   Michael Schumacher
Great stuff Nick, still not won anything then. I hope Kristensen wasn't in that winning Audi or we'll never hear the end of it.
TomK_8   Tom Kristensen
Well Michael, I should have had my ninth Le Mans victory, if it were not for my teammate McNish carelessly and rashly colliding with a slower car for the second year in succession.
mschumi   Michael Schumacher
Phew, I was worried you might have emulated Martina Navratilova in winning 9 titles in a sport with about as much genuine competition as Wrestlemania.
JV   Jacques Villeneuve
Controversial Jacques is going to stick his neck on the line here and say that given there were more F1 drivers at Le Mans than in the current championship, there is a chance that perhaps sportscar racing may be better than F1.
mschumi   Michael Schumacher
Quality versus quantity, a bit like your new haircut. Who exactly are you trying to look like, Sinead O'Connor?
JV   Jacques Villeneuve
No Michael, while I respect her as a controversial fellow artist, she did not inspire my wild new look. As somebody who has finished second at Le Mans I really controversially think F1 is going to be surpassed by sportscars.
mschumi   Michael Schumacher
Second at Le Mans, wow. Apparently I came fifth there once, they must have drugged me to make me do it. I stopped taking it seriously when "endurance racing maestro" Johnny Herbert won it.
johnny   Johnny Herbert
Here's Johnny! Listen Villeneuve, I actually won Le Mans, and I did it without looking like Kojak. As for you Schumacher, I would have murdered your mullet-mangled arse in a sportscar. In my day Le Mans was for real men, 24 hours of booze, birds, and a blond bastard called Johnny Herbert.
Louise   Louise Goodman
You tell em Johnny. Go go! Go Johnny go go go!
mschumi   Michael Schumacher
That's a funny one Herbert, I'm not sure how you won a sportscar race over 24 hours when your average F1 race lasted 24 corners.
fernando   Fernando Alonso
Now that I think of it Webber, didn't you patent the idea of a flywheel at Le Mans years ago?
wibbah   Mark Webber
It was a flamin scary one matey, air got under my Merc and next thing I knew I was arse over elbow on the Mulsanne. Once was bad enough but the second one made us look right galahs.
fernando   Fernando Alonso
Don't worry about it, would have been worse if had happened in an F1 car. Actually, wait a minute...Valencia... where we're off to next weekend... oops.
Horner   Christian Horner
Given the wanton damage of company equipment at Valencia in 2010, Adrian and I have inserted a specific clause in Mark's contract reminding him that while his nominally bespoke front wings may not be as efficient at generating downforce as those of perfect Seb, this does not render the team liable if his car becomes airborne.
bestofbritish   Jenson Button
If anyone wants to flip end over end in my chassis let me know. Launching from my rear bodywork won't be a problem, but I can't promise you we'll be coming back down to earth.

Hamilton wins in Montreal but may face paycut to stay at McLaren Schumacher, Raikkonen tipped as eighth different winner in Valencia
